Netflix Cancels ‘GYPSY’ After One Season

August 11, 2017

Gypsy 4

Netflix has announced that they have cancelled their freshman drama series GYPSY after just one season.

The decision of the cancellation is surprising as Netflix had been in conversation with the producers about a second season and even a writers room had been up and running for four weeks, working on storylines and scripts for a season 2.

The psychological thriller starring Naomi Watts was released on June 30 to mixed reviews. It centers on Jean Holloway (Watts), a Manhattan therapist with a seemingly picturesque life who begins to develop intimate and illicit relationships with the people in her patients’ lives. As the borders of Jean’s professional life and personal fantasies become blurred, she descends into a world where the forces of desire and reality are disastrously at odds.

Watts was joined alongside Billy Crudup as Jean’s husband, Sophie Cookson, Lucy Boynton, and Karl Glusman as three of her patients. Liza Chasin, Rubin, Watts and Rudd Simmons executive produced.
