Following the released of DC Comics’ highly anticipated Justice League during this year’s San Diego Comic-Con, DC Films Chief Geoff Johns announced that The Flash’s solo film will be FLASHPOINT, an adaption of the 2011 comic book storyline that features an alternate universe for Barry Allen.

Here’s the synopsis from the comics:

FLASHPOINT details an altered DC Universe in which only Barry Allen seems to be aware of significant differences between the regular timeline and the altered one, including Cyborg’s place as the world’s quintessential hero much like Superman is in the main timeline, with Superman himself being held captive as a lab-rat by the United States government within an underground facility in Metropolis. In addition, a Thomas Wayne version of Batman, whose son Bruce Wayne is dead instead of him and his wife Martha (who becomes The Joker), spends his days “running Wayne Casinos” in order to help fund his vigilante activity.

This would marks the second time that the Flashpoint storyline has been made. The CW’s version has also made their own version during the season 3.

What about the solo film? Ezra Miller will play the title character, but they are currently still looking for a director. Miller is joined alongside Kiersey Clemons as Iris and Bill Crudup as his father.
