July 26, 2017

Sony Pictures Animation has released their first teaser trailer for their upcoming animated retelling of the first Christmas film, THE STAR, which can be seen down below!

Featuring the voices of The Walking Dead‘s Steven Yeun as Bo, the Donkey who believes he’s destined for greater things. He told USA Today:

“I gravitated toward this idea of great things coming in unexpected packages. This is a hero’s journey. Bo is an earnest, altruistic and strong-willed donkey who also wants to do big things.”

Yeun is joined alongside Oprah Winfrey as Deborah the Camel, Kristin Chenoweth as a mouse, Tracy Morgan and Tyler Perry as the rest of the camel trio, Kelly Clarkson as Leah the Horse, Keegan-Michael Key as Dave the Dove, and Aidy Bryan as Ruth the lamb.

Jane the Virgin star Gina Rodriguez plays Mary and said:

“I’ve got the virgin pregnant thing down, let me tell you. I know how to have babies without having sex. And the truth is, I was beyond honored to be offered the role. I grew up with the nativity story. There are big, holy shoes to fill. As special and glorified as she is, Mary represents that Everywoman.”

Mariah Carey co-wrote and sang a new song for the film.

In The Star, a small but brave donkey named Bo years for a life beyond his daily grind at the village mill. One day he finds the courage to break free, and finally goes on the adventure of his dreams. On his journey, he teams up with Ruth, a loveable sheep who has lost her flock and Dave, a dove with lofty aspirations. Along with three wisecracking camels and some eccentric stable animals, Bo and his new friends follow the Star and become unlikely heroes in the greatest story ever told– the first Christmas.

The Star hits theaters on November 10.
