FilmRise has released the first teaser trailer for their upcoming drama film, MY FRIEND DAHMER, starring Ross Lynch as a young Jeffrey Dahmer, which can be seen down below!

Based on an acclaimed graphic novel of the same name by Derf Backderf, a classmate of Dahmer. It’s an attempt to look at the troubled childhood of Dahmer, a serial killer who murdered 17 men and boys in the midwest United States between 1978 and 1991 before being captured and incarcerated. He would become one of America’ most infamous serial killers. This is the story before that story.

Jeff Dahmer (Lynch) is an awkward teenager struggling to make it through high school with a family life in ruins. He collects roadkill, fixates on a neighborhood jogger (Vincent Kartheiser), and copes with his unstable mother (Anne Heche) and well-intentioned father (Dallas Roberts). He begins to act out at school, and his goofball antics win over a group of band-nerd who form The Dahmer Fan Club, headed by Derf Backderf (Alex Wolff). But this camaraderie can’t mask his growing depravity. Approaching graduation, Jeff spirals further out of control, inching every closer to madness.

Lynch is joined alongside Anne Heche, Vincet Kartheiser, and Alex Wolff.

Marc Meyers directs, writes and produces. Meyers wanted to be truthful about telling the story and even got permission to shoot the film in Dahmer’s boyhood home in Ohio.

Jody Girgenti, Adam Goldworm, Michael Merlob and Milan Chakraborty produce with Meyers. Michael Novogratz and Giorgio Angelini executive produce. The fiml is an Ibid Filmworks and Aperture Entertainment production.

Danny Fisher, CEO of FilmRise said:

“Marc has created a haunting, heartbreaking, and totally unexpected exploration of one of the most notorious figures in American crime history. We are thrilled to bring this powerful film– and Ross Lynch’s incredible performance as Dahmer– to audiences in the fall.”

Meyers said that he thanks Backderf for trusting him in telling the story:

“It’s a powerful book, which has deeply resonated with loads of people of many ages here and abroad. When we first met, he signed my hardcover copy, ‘Don’t f*k it up!!!, Derf.'”
