Walt Disney Pictures has released their motion poster for their upcoming sequel MARY POPPINS RETURNS, featuring leading star Emily Blunt! Check it out down below!

The motion poster was released during this weekend’s D23 Expo in Anaheim where Blunt took the stage with director/producer Rob Marshall to talk about the highly anticipated sequel, where Blunt offered insights as to how she made the character her own.

“I needed to try to pay homage to Julie Andrews but carve out a new space for myself. And we were very loyal to the books.”

Marshall said:

“I was incredibly honored to be approached  by Disney about directing a sequel. This is a brand new original film musical from top to bottom, which is very rare, and it is a wonderful opportunity to create something specifically for the screen.”

Mary Poppins Returns also stars Lin-Manuel Miranda, Ben Whishaw, Emily Mortimer, Julie Andrews, Colin Firth, and Meryl Streep. In addition, Dick Van Dyke plays Mr. Dawes Jr., the chairman of Fidelity Fiduciary Bank, which is now run by William Weatherall Wilkins (Firth), and Angela Lansbury as the Balloon Lady, a character from PL Travers’ original children’s book.

Directed and produced by Oscar nominee, Emmy and DGA Award winner Rob Marshall. The film also introduces three new Banks children, played by Pixie Davies, Nathanael Saleh, and newcomer Joel Dawson.

Set in 1930s depression-era London (the time period of the original novels), Mary Poppins Returns draws from the wealth of material in PL Travers’ additional seven books. In the story, Michael (Whishaw) and Jane (Mortimer) are now grown up, with Michael, his three children and their housekeeper, Ellen (Walters), living on Cherry Tree Lane. After Michael suffers a personal loss, the enigmatic nanny Mary Poppins (Blunt) re-enters the lives of the Banks family, and, along with the optimistic street lamplighter Jack (Miranda), uses her unique magical skills to help the family rediscover the joy and wonder missing in their lives. Mary Poppins also introduces the children to a new assortment of colorful and whimsical characters, including her eccentric cousin, Topsy (Streep).

Mary Poppins Returns hits theaters on December 25, 2018.
