The First Exclusive Look at Al Pacino as Joe Paterno For HBO Feature Film

July 16, 2017

HBO Films has released the first exclusive look of Al Pacino as Joe Paterno, the fallen Penn State football coach who’s the focus in the upcoming untitled drama, which is currently in production.

Directed by Barry Levinson, the film centers on Joe Paterno, who, after becoming the winningest coach in college football history, is embroiled in Penn State’s Jerry Sandusky sexual abuse scandal, challenging his legacy and forcing him to face questions of institutional failure regarding the victims.

Paterno died in 2012 and was dismissed by Penn State the previous year in the wake of the Sandusky child sex abuse revelations.

Levinson directs from a script by Debora Cahn, and John C. Richards and David McKenna.

Levinson executive produces alongside Jason Sosnoff, Tom Fonatana, Edward R. Pressman, Rick Nicita, and Lindsay Sloane. Amy Herman produces. The project is in association with Sony Pictures Television.
