Christopher Nolan Admits Interest in Directing a Bond Film

July 13, 2017

Christopher Nolan (The Dark Knight trilogy, Inception) admitted in an interview that he is still interested in directing a James Bond film. However, it would have to be a reinvention that needed him.

“A Bond movie, definitely. I’ve spoken to the producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson over the years. I deeply love the character, and I’m always excited to see what they do with it. Maybe one day that would work out. You’d have to be needed, if you know what I mean. It has to need reinvention; it has to need you. And they’re getting along very well.”

The next Bond film may feature the return of star Daniel Craig, who previously said he wasn’t interested. Vulture spoke with Craig during the New Yorker Festival in 2016, and he was referring that he was asked the question of returning after completing Spectre.

“They say that sh*t sticks, and that definitely stuck. It was the day after filming [stopped on SPECTRE]. I’d been away from home for a year. Boo-hoo. It’s a good gig. I enjoy it.”

Nolan is known for his work on The Dark Knight trilogy, Inception and Interstellar. His next film is Dunkirk, starring Fionn Whitehead, Tom Glynn-Carney, Jack Lowden, Harry Styles, Aneurin Barnard, James D’Arcy, Barry Keoghan, Kenneth Branagh, Cillian Murphy, Mark Rylance and Tom Hardy. It hits theaters on July 21.
