Writer-director Quentin Tarantino seems to be interested in tackling true crime!

Tarantino’s currently untitled project is about the Charles Manson murder, with him once again writing and directing. Frequent collaborators Harvey and Bob Weinstein are said to be involved, though the project is currently in the early stages of being shopped to studios and distributors.

The film is reportedly in the final stages of writing and Brad Pitt and Jennifer Lawrence are being approached for the roles. If Pitt joins, he would rejoin Tarantino after working in 2009’s film Inglorious Basterds. The script is said to be centered, around Sharon Tate, actress and wife of director Roman Polanski, who was murdered by Manson and his followers in 1969.

Charles Manson amassed a large following and the group was ordered to attack the people in a house in Los Angeles that he thought was owned by a record producer who rejected Manson’s work. Four of his followers murdered Tate, who was eight months pregnant at the time, as well as four other people who were in the house. Manson is currently serving a life in prison as are a number of his followers for these and other murders that same year.

Tarantino is known for his unique style of writing and directing, often using the same actors in his films, including Samuel L. Jackson, Uma Thurman, Tim Roth, Zoe Bell, Christoph Waltz and Michael Madsen.

Production is currently being eyed to start in the summer of 2018.
