Crackle’s ‘THE OATH’ Begins Production in Puerto Rico

July 11, 2017

Crackle, Sony Pictures Television Network’s free, ad-supported streaming network, has announced that production has officially begun on their upcoming original drama series, THE OATH, in San Juan Puerto Rico.

Starring Sean Bean, Ryan Kwanten, Cory Hardrict, Katrina Law, Arlen Escarpeta, and JJ Soria. Additional members announced includes Michael Marlarkey, Eva Mauro, Kwame Patterson, Linda Purl and Elisabeth Röhm.

Set to debut in 2018, the 10-episode original is executive produced by Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson and his G-Unit Film & Television Inc. and the premiere episode will be directed by Jeff T. Thomas. A gritty action drama, THE OATH explores a world of gangs made up of those sworn to protect and defend and sheds light on corrupt and secret societies that are nearly impossible to join– only a select few make the cut-but once inside, members will do what they must to protect each other from enemies on the outside and from within their own ranks.

Joe Halpin, Creator and Executive Producer said:

“We’ve assembled a top notch production and a stellar cast. This show reflects a very personal and gritty narrative, so I want to thank Crackle for allowing us to take the reins and get this party started.”

Eric Berger, GM of Crackle said:

“This show brings together an A-list ensemble and creative team who are creating a completely unique show for our audience. We want to thank Joe for his leadership on the ground and to 50 Cent and his team for their enormous support and partnership with this series.”

Here’s the details on the characters:

  • Michael Malarkey plays Sam Foster, a police officer and lieutenant for the Vipers, a rival cop gang. Going through a difficult and expensive divorce, he is involved in a forbidden love affair with Karen Beach (Law) a member of the Ravens.

  • Eve Mauro plays Theresa Winters, a cop and leader of the Vipers, a rival cop gang within the department. Ruthless and unpredictable, there are no lines she is not willing to cross. With Tom Cole (Bean) in prison, she has taken his place working with local drug dealer, Neckbone (Patterson).

  • Kwame Patterson plays Neckbone, a calculating and dangerous high-level drug dealer with multiple cop gangs on his payroll. His organization is currently under threat from a new designer drug. As the series progresses, he sets off a chain of events that forces the Ravens into the middle of a drug war.

  • Linda Purl is Gwenn Hammond, Steve and Cole’s mother, and Tom’s ex-wife. Suffering from late stage cancer, Gwenn takes laundered money from Steve for her treatments. Though she and Tom have ended their marriage, they remain on good terms, and still care about each other.

  • Elisabeth Röhm as Aria Price, a senior FBI agent. Byrd’s (Escarpeta) handler in the undercover operation targeting the Ravens. A shrewd bureaucratic animal and creature of expediency. Her mandate is to steer corrupt cops back to the right path, but there’s also a darker, more opportunistic side to Aira that comes to light further on in the series.

Created by Joe Halpin, who worked as a Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department deputy in South Central for 17 years. 12 of which as an undercover officer, the series takes an unforgiving look at the complicated dynamics in these organizations and documents the lives of those willing to risk it all, to have it all.
