Olivia Holt has been busy working on Marvel’s CLOAK & DAGGER, which will premiere on Freeform. Recently, she spoke with HuffPo’s The TeaHuffPo’s The TeaHuffPo’s The Tea newsletter and revealed a bit about the show.

“I am really looking forward to everyone seeing it. It’s a really honest show, and even though it’s about two superheroes, it really brings this truth behind kids who grow up in a broken home. For the audience who doesn’t know about the comic, I think they’re really going to love it. And for the audience that grew up reading the comics, I think they’re going to love it even more.”

She also spoke about the darkness of the show and the challenge it brings to work on.

“It’s definitely a challenge, but it’s a good challenge for me. Working with Disney for as long as I did– it was the perfect place for me at that time. That’s exactly what I needed to be doing and everything I needed to be learning. Now, moving onto other roles and darker material, it’s giving me a chance to expand my range.”

CLOAK & DAGGER is a coming-of-age based on the comic books. Tandy Bowen (Holt) and Tyrone Johnson (Aubrey Joseph) comes from starkly different backgrounds, each growing up with a secret they never dared shared with another soul.

Also starring Andrea Roth, Gloria Reuben, Miles Mussenden, Carl Lundstedt, James Saito, and J.D Evermore.

A co-production by Marvel Television and ABC Signature Studios. Joe Pokaski serves as showrunner and executive producer, with Jeph Loeb and Jim Chory also executive producing. Gina Prince-Bythewood directs the first episode.

CLOAK & DAGGER premieres with 10 one-hour episodes in early 2018.
