Filmmaker Edgar Wright is one in particular that makes unique films, giving the audience a singular film experience. Wright recently spoke to the Empire Podcast and reveals that he might do a Baby Driver sequel.

“The studio have asked me to think about writing a sequel and it is funny that it is one of the ones that I might do a sequel to, because I think there’s somewhere more to go with it in terms of the characters. Especially, Baby has got a new place.”

Wright also elaborated on why there hasn’t been a sequel to the likes of Shaun of the Dead, The World’s End and Hot Fuzz.

“Most sequels you have to contrive something so they go back to square one, unless there’s somewhere deeper for them to go… I think with BABY DRIVER there’s more that you can do in that realm, and I sort of have an idea that if you did another one you would subvert his involvement in the crime in a different way so he’s not kind of like the apprentice anymore.”

Baby Driver is a talented, young getaway driver (Ansel Elgort) who relies on the beat of his personal soundtrack to be the best in the game. When he meets the girl of his dreams (Lily James), Baby sees a chance to ditch his criminal life and make a clean getaway. But after being coerced into working for a crime boss (Kevin Spacey), he must face the music when a doomed heist threatens his life, love and freedom.

Baby Driver also stars Jon Hamm, Eiza Gonzalez, Jon Bernthal, and Jamie Foxx. The film was released on June 28 and has brought in $41.9 million at the domestic box office so far.
