While Season 7 of GAME OF THRONES premieres on July 16 with a shorter season, HBO has already confirmed that the last season, 8 won’t return until 2019. However, during this weekend’s Con of Thrones, series sound designer Paula Fairfield spoke at a panel at the convention, that while the season 7 finale will have a total of 82 minutes, the show’s producers are considering feature-length episodes for Season 8.

Season 8 is slated to have six episodes and will close the chapter, but there’s the possibility of getting an extended run time. While there’s still plenty of development time for the final episodes, plans could possibly change for the last season.

Meanwhile, at the end of last season, Daenerys’ (Emilia Clarke) dragons and her immense army were finally on the way to Westeros, where Cersei (Lena Headey) has now become Queen after the death of her children. The Night King’s (Vladimir Furdik) army is heading south, and a battle appears to be imminent.

Based on the series of novels “A Song of Ice and Fire” by George R.R Martin. Last season, the TV series moved passed the book.

It was revealed that Season 7 will have both the longest and shortest episodes of the show to date. Two season seven episodes will exceed 60 minutes in addition to the planned 82 minute finale. And a shorter 50 minute episode will air.

David Benioff, D.B. Weiss, Carolyn Strauss, Frank Doelger, and Bernadette Caulfield executive produce. Guymon Casady, Vince Gerardis, Martin, and Bryan Cogman co-executive produce. Chris Newman, Greg Spence and Lisa McAtackney produce.
