Details on Coen Brothers New Western Anthology Series

The Coen Brothers are prepping for their next project!

The filmmaking duo are set to direct a Western anthology series under Annapurna’s new television division, but according to The Albuquerque Journal the project is a feature-length omnibus consisting of six different stories.

Production on Buster Scruggs is expected to begin in mid-July till September in and around Santa Fe, New Mexico. Annapurna has not made any casting announcements as of yet. But story titles and brief synopses for each part have been released:

1- A singing cowboy and is the title story

2- “Near Algodones” about high-plains drifter whose own fecklessness dogs his attempts at bank robbery and cattle driving.

3- “Meal Ticket” follows an actor and impresario of a traveling show.

4- “All Gold Canyon” about a prospector who happily finds a gold seam but then unhappily finds an evil encroacher.

5- “The Gal Who Got Rattled” follows two trail bosses on the Oregon Trail and a woman on the wagon train who needs the help of one of them and who might be a marriage prospect for the other.

6- “The Mortal Remains” about five different passengers on a stagecoach of mysterious destination.


Buster Scruggs marks the third western genre project for the brothers after No Country for Old Men and True Grit.
