True Blood star Ryan Kwanten has joined Crackle, Sony Picture Television Network’s free, ad-supported streaming network upcoming drama THE OATH opposite Sean Bean.

The upcoming 10-episode original drama series, which is set to debut in 2018. Kwanten will also produce.

Kwanten will play Steve Hammond, son of Tom Hammond (Bean) and the leader of acop gang, The Ravens. A cool, pragmatic, reluctant leader with the mind and instincts of a shrewd tactician, Hammond is a survivor-a natural protector who values tacking care of those closest to him, his family, his team.

Created by Joe Halpin (Hawaii Five-0, Secret and Lies), who worked as a Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department deputy in South Central for 17 years, 12 of which as an undercover officer, the series takes an unforgiving look at the complicated dynamics in these organizations and documents the lives of those willing to risk it all, to have it all.

Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson and his G-Unit Film & Television Inc. will executive produce this gritty, action-packed drama, explores a world of gangs made up of those sworn to protect and defend and sheds light on corrupt and secret societies that are nearly impossible to join– only a select few make the cut-but once inside, members will do what they must to protect each other from enemies on the outsider and from within their own ranks.

Jackson, Todd Hoffman and Dennis Kim of Storied Media Group will executive produce and Joe Halpin who is the creator, writer, and showrunner. Jeff T. Thomas (Blindspot, Wayward Pines) will direct the first episode.

Kwanten is known for starring in HBO’s critically-acclaimed series True Blood for seven seasons. His other TV credits includes FOX comedy The New Girl. On the feature film he will be seen next on Supercon, a comedy alongside John Malkovich, and Rob Cohen’s action film Category 5 with Maggie Grace.
