After The CW making its tough decision of not picking up darkly comedic hourlong pilot INSATIABLE, Netflix has acquired it. Starring Debby Ryan and Dallas Roberts, the show comes from CBS TV Studios and will become a Netflix original series.

From writer Lauren Gussis (Dexter), Ryan Seacrest Productions and Storied Media Group, with Andrew Fleming directing the pilot, the show is inspired by real-life Southern lawyer and top beauty pageant coach Bill Alverson. It focuses on Bob (Dallas) a disgraced, dissatisfied civil lawyer-turned-beauty pageant coach who takes on Patty (Ryan), a vengeful, bullied teenager as his client, and has no idea what he’s about to unleash upon the world.

Dallas and Ryan are joined alongside Errin Westbrook, Michael Provost, Sarah Colonna, Kimmy Shields, Irene Choi and Alyssa Milan in a recurring role.

Gussis executive produces with RSP’s Ryan Seacrest, Nina Wass, and Andrea Shay of RSP and Storied Media’s Todd Hoffman and Dennis Kim.

Most of the broadcast pilots that are not picked up to series are sent to other networks in hopes of getting a series order elsewhere. At some points, it isn’t a success like Sneaky Pete, which originally was set with CBS, but landed a series order at Amazon two years ago.

The CW has to make a tough decision in May, having already renewed 11 current series. They ended up picking 4 new shows, Dynasty, Valor, Black Lightning and Life Sentence, originally keeping the remaining two pilots Insatiable and Searchers, but passed because the network’s budget had been maxed out.
