Netflix has acquired the worldwide streaming rights to Josh and Benny Safie’s heist thriller GOOD TIME starring Robert Pattinson. This comes following the warm reviews in competition at Cannes. The film will be released theatrically in North America by A24.

Emilie Georges, co-founder of Memento Films International said:

“Through this innovative deal with Netflix, we’re able to maintain our collaboration with all-rights distributors and allow them to focus their resources on theatrical distribution with a lesser risk and a lesser pressure on the minimum guarantee.

At a time when independent distributors are becoming more cautious on their spendings, we’re giving them first-window access to high-profile films while enabling them to split the risk with Netflix.”

Pattinson is joined alongside Jennifer Jason Leigh, Barkhad Abdi, Buddy Duress, Taliah Webster and co-director Benny Sadie.

After a botched bank robber leads his younger brother in prison, Constantine “Connie” Nikas (Pattinson) embarks on a twisted odyssey through the city’s underworld in an increasingly desperate– and dangerous– attempt to get his brother Nick (Safdie) out of jail. Over the course of one adrenalized night, Connie finds himself on a mad descent into violence and mayhem as he races against the clock to save his brother and himself, knowing their live hang in the balance.

Directed by The Safdie brothers and written by Ronald Bronstein and Josh Safdie, the film hits theaters on August 11.
