June 7, 2017

James Mangold

With Marvel Comics adaption Logan having surpassed $612 million at the worldwide box office, James Mangold continues to move on to his next project. Mangold will direct the English-language remake of DISORDER, based on the 2015 French-Belgian film directed by Alice Winocour. Winocousr also co-wrote the dramatic thriller alongside Jean-Stéphane Bros.

Starring Matthias Schoenaerts and Diane Kruger, it was released in France under the title Maryland and has the following synopsis:

Vincent, a French Special Forces soldier just back from Afghanistan, is suffering from a post-traumatic stress disorder. He is hired to endure the security of Jessie, the wife of a rich Lebanese businessman at their luxurious villa, “Maryland”. As he starts experiencing a strange fascination for the woman he has to protect, Vincent increasingly seems to fall into paranoia. Unless he is right, and the danger is very real indeed.

The remake is set up at Sony Pictures, and features an adapted script by Sicario and Hell or High Water‘s Taylor Sheridan. Sheridan’s script seems to change things to the storyline and potentially sets up a central character for a film franchise.

Todd Black, Jason Blumenthal and Steve Tisch will produce the remake through Escape Artists. Tony Shaw will also produce with David Beaubaire overseeing for Sony.
