Freeform has given a pilot order for a MISFITS reboot. This pilot will be a remake of the British cult series and comes from writer/producer Diane Ruggiero-Wright (iZombie, Veronica Mars) as well as Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage’s Fake Empire.

Ashleigh LaThrop, Tre Hall, Allie MacDonald, and Jake Cannavale, son of Bobby Cannavale will star. Victoria Mahoney (Grey’s Anatomy) will direct. If the show goes to series, the original show’s creator, Howard Overman, will also executive produce with Schwartz, Savage and Ruggiero-Wright. Fake Empire executive Lis Rowinski will co-executive producer. Ruggiero-Wright would serve as show runner.

In the reboot, Lathrop will play Alicia, a spoiled, vapid, middle-class party girl who seems to have three main goals in life: have fun, look hot and get guys. Hall will play Curtis, a football player with a promising career who lost his way and isn’t happy about it. MacDonald will play Kelly, a street smart with a hair-trigger temper and a penchant for beating the crap out of people. And Cannavale will play Nathan, a con artist and thief with an inflated sense of self.

The Misfits reboot is based around the British series that ran from 2009-13 and revolves around a group of five people in a community service program that develop supernatural powers after an electrical storm. It starred Antonia Thomas, Iwan Rheon, Lauren Socha, Nathan Stewart-Jarrett, and Robert Sheehan.
