Joss Whedon to Take Over ‘JUSTICE LEAGUE’ Movie

May 22, 2017

THR has reported that director Zack Snyder and his wife, producer Deborah Snyder lost their daughter Autumn, to suicide back in March. Although the news was kept secret, the upcoming JUSTICE LEAGUE took a two-week break so that The Snyders could deal with the family tragedy. Now, it been revealed that Snyder will step down and that Joss Whedon will come on board to finish the Warner Bros. Pictures DC Comics adaption.

Snyder said:

“In my mind, I thought it was a cathartic thing to go back to work, to just bury myself and see if that was way through it. The demands of this job are pretty intense. It is all consuming… I’ve decided to take a step back from the movie to be with my family, be with my kids, who really need me. They are all having a hard time. I’m having a hard time.”

The Snyder have seven children. Whedon will finish Justice League just in time for the November 10 release. This shouldn’t come as a surprise that Whedon has jumped from the Marvel Cinematic Universe to DC after it was announced that he would write and direct DC Comics’ upcoming Batgirl. It was also reported that Whedon was originally brought to Justice League to write additional scenes.

Toby Emmerich, Warner Bros. President said:

“We’re not introducing any new characters. It’s the same characters in some new scenes. He’s handling a baton to Joss but the course has really been set by Zack. I still believe that despite this tragedy, we’ll still end up with a great movie.”

Justice League features a script by Chris Terrio from a story by Snyder and Terrio. Starring Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Gal Gadot, Jason Momoa, Ezra Miller, Ray Fisher, Willem Dafoe, Jesse Eisenberg, Jeremy Irons, Diane Lane, Connie Nielsen, J.K Simmons and Amy Adams. It is expected to see Ciarán Hinds as Steppenwolf, Amber Heard as Mera and Kiersey Clemons as Iris West.

Justice League still hits theaters on November 10.
