Mia Wasikowska, John Turturro and Greta Gerwig have joined Mia Hansen-Løve upcoming English-language debut film BERGMAN ISLAND.

Set on the Swedish island of Faro, the film revolves around an American filmmaking couple who retreat to the island for the summer to each write screenplays for their upcoming films in an act of pilgrimage to the place that inspired Bergman. As the summer and their screenplays advance, the lines between reality and fiction start to blur against the backdrop of the Island’s wild landscape.

No word on what the trio’s characters are.

Charles Gillibert has launched the film to buyers under his CG Cinema Banner at the Cannes Film Festival.

Production will begin in summer 2018 to coincide with the centenary of Bergman’s birth on July 14, 2018. Before this film, Hansen-Løve will film Maya, starring Romain Kolinka, about a reporter who heads to India after being held hostage in Syria.
