Lifetime has officially given a green light on original movie COCAINE GODMOTHER, starring Catherine Zeta-Jones and directed by Guillermo Navarros. Based on the life of Miami drug lord Griselda Blanco, the film will start production this year for a 2018 premiere on Lifetime.

She later moved to California, where she was deported to Columbia and was gunned down in 2012. She was suspected of ordering more than 200 murders.

Asylum Entertainment will be producing for Lifetime with Steven Michaels, Jonathan Koch, Joan Harrison. Alisa Tiger executive produces. Navarro will direct from a script by David McKenna.

A&E Networks holds worldwide distribution rights.
