THE CROWN’s Claire Foy Eyed For Lisbeth Salander

Claire Foy

It was announced last year that Sony Pictures is developing a follow-up to David Fincher’s The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo with THE GIRL IN THE SPIDER’S WEB, based on David Lagercrantz’s follow-up novel to Stieg Larsson’s original “Millennium Trilogy”.

Evil Dead and Don’t Breathe’s Fede Alvarez will be directing, and the news today comes is that The Crown star Claire Foy is being eyed to be the new Lisbeth Salander, but schedules are being worked. If schedules are managed to get solved, Foy joins Rooney Mara, who played Salander in Fincher’s version and Naomi Rapace in the original Swedish trilogy adaption.

Published in 2015 by Alfred A. Knopf, The Girl in the Spider’s Web is described as the following:

Late one night, Blomkvist receives a phone call from a source claiming to have information vital to the United States. The source has been in contact with a young female superhacker– a hacker resembling someone Blomkvist knows all too well. The implications are staggering. Blomkvist, in desperate need of a scoop for Millennium, turns to Salander for help. She, as usual, has her own agenda. The secret they are both chasing is at the center of a tangled web of spies, cybercriminals, and government around the world, and someone is prepared to kill to protect it…

Foy is also being eyed for First Man, the upcoming Neil Armstrong biopic from Whiplash and La La Land writer-director Damien Chazelle. It’s possible that Foy can take both projects. Rogue One’s Felicity Jones is also said to be another favorite for the part.
