ABC Cancels ‘SCANDAL’ After Seven Seasons

May 10, 2017

ABC Television Network’s hit series SCANDAL will officially end after seven seasons.

Hailing from Shonda Rhimes, creator and executive producer on Grey’s Anatomy and Private Practice, the series stars Kerry Washington and revolves around the life and work of a professional crisis manager and her dysfunctional staff.  It seems like the decision on ending with this season, is a creative choice of Rhimes.

On Scandal, everyone has secrets… and Olivia Pope (Washington) has dedicated her life to protecting and defending the public images of the nation’s elite by keeping those secrets under wraps. Pope’s team are at the top of their game when it comes to getting the job done for their clients, but it becomes apparent that these “gladiators in suits”, who specialize in fixing the lives of other people, have trouble fixing those closest at hand– their own.

Rhimes and Mark Wilding executive produce. Judy Smith co-executive produces.

Season 7 was officially announced earlier this year when the show premiered with its biggest audience in over 14 months and its best young adult number since its midseason return the previous February– since 11/19/15 and 2/11/16. Since its opener, Scandal has been averaging 5.7 million total viewers.
