The Glass Castle

Lionsgate has officially set a release date for their upcoming film adaption, THE GLASS CASTLE, based on the New York Times bestselling 2005 memoir of the same name by Jeanette Walls will be released in theaters on August 11, 2017.

Starring Brie Larson, Woody Harrelson and Naomi Watts, the film is directed by Destin Daniel Cretton from a script he co-wrote with Andrew Lanham. Gil Netter and Kan Kao from Netter Productions produce.

Based on the memoir of the same name, The Glass Castle tells the story of Jeanette Walls’ unconventional upbringing at the hands of her deeply dysfunctional and uniquely vibrant parents, and her journey towards acceptance and fulfillment.

The Glass Castle by Walls is described as the following:

When sober, Jeanette’s brilliant and charismatic father captured his children’s imagination, teaching them physics, geology, and how to embrace life fearlessly. But when he drank, he was dishonest and destructive. Her mother was a free spirit who abhorred the idea of domesticity and didn’t want the responsibility of raising a family. The Walls children learned to take care of themselves. They fed, clothed, and protected one another, and eventually found their way to New York. Their parents followed them, choosing to be homeless even as their children prospered.
