NBC Cancels ‘EMERALD CITY’
NBC has officially cancelled the Wizard of Oz themed drama EMERALD CITY after one season.
The series, executive produced by Shaun Cassidy and David Schulner, never managed to connect with viewers or critics so it shouldn’t come as a big surprise why the network decided not to renew the show for a second season.
EMERALD CITY originally envisioned as a modern and dark reimagining of the classic tale of Oz in the vein of Game of Thrones, had a long and complicated role to arrive to TV. NBC first gave the green light with different writers back in January 2014, giving it a 10-episode straight-to-series order but after seeing several scripts, they pulled the plug that summer. Two years later, in April 2015, the network decided to handle the project a 10-episode straight-to-series with a new writer/executive producer, Schulner. This time it arrived on air, but the ratings weren’t quite good.
Starring Adria Arjona, Oliver Jackson-Cohen, Ana Ularu and Vincent D’Onofrio.
[ Smiles ] I have never watched Emerald City.
Hmm. Maybe, the Sci-Fi channel may add it to their programming.
Who knows? I highly doubt that might happen since it didn’t connected. It’s like someone trying to bring a reinvention of “Dracula”, but it might seem difficult thanks to “Twilight”.
