James Gunn Has Begun to Write ‘GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY 3’

May 4, 2017

Two weeks ago, writer-director James Gunn confirmed that he would return to write and direct GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 3 and now USA Today says that he has officially started writing the sequel. It is also reported that there currently conversations with star Chris Pratt about the film and with Zoe Saldana about her role even becoming more significant in the finale of the trilogy.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will arrive after the third and fourth Avengers film, not only in terms of release date, but also within the continuity of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 hits theaters and takes place just six months after the 2014 film, which means there will be some time between Guardians Vol. 2 and Avengers 4, and thus, potential changes to the look of the team.

Producer Kevin Feige previously confirmed to Cinema Blend that the Guardians would be:

“Evolved slightly, in some recognizable ways. But really they’ll be the Guardians and dealing with the sh*t storm they have to deal with.”

Vol. 3 arrives after the two Avengers movies, which means we can expect a different looking troop of Guardians in the trilogy finale.

Starring Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper, Michael Rooker, Karen Gillan, and Sean Gunn reprising their roles. They’re joined by new cast members Pom Klementieff as Matis, Elizabeth Debicki, Chris Sullivan, and Kurt Russell as Ego, the Living Planet.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 hits theaters on May 5.
