Universal Planning Madonna Biopic ‘BLONDE AMBITION’

April 25, 2017

Madonna

Following the success of F. Gary Gray’s NWA biopic Straight Outta Compton, it’s no surprise that Universal Pictures is looking to develop another feature film based on a major name in the music industry. And the news is that the studio has secured the rights to BLONDE AMBITION, a Madonna biopic script from newcomer Elyse Hollander. The script topped the 2016 Black List of unproduced screenplays with the following logline:

In 1980s New York, Madonna struggles to get her first album released while navigating fame, romance, and a music industry that views women as disposal.

Born Madonna Louise Ciccone, Madonna released her first album in 1982 and went on to become the bestselling female artist of all time (as well as the fourth bestselling artist, behind only The Beatles, Michael Jackson and Elvis Presley).

Blonde Ambition does not have yet a director, but will be produced by Michael De Luca alongside Brett Ratner and his RatPac Entertainment and John Zaozirny and his Bellvue Productions banner.
