‘BIG LITTLE LIES’ Author Opens About Season 2 Possibility
While HBO aired the finale of their dark comedy series BIG LITTLE LIES on April 2, there’s no doubt that the network might be in talks for a season 2. Based on the book of the same name by Liane Moriarty, who recently spoke with The Sydney Morning Herald about that possibility.
“I have started to think about ways this could continue. The producers have asked me to see if I can come up with some ideas. I wouldn’t write a new book but perhaps a new story and then we’ll see what happens.”
Screenwriter David E. Kelley adapted the novel for the small screen and left out the backstory for Zoe Kravitz’s character Bonnie, which seems like there’s a possibility of story for Season 2.
“My original reaction was ‘What have they done? How have they left that out?’ But a lot of people have said that they could tell [what was Bonnie’s true story], there had been little hints and that you can take that away. It’s implied in her performances and some little lines. I think I might have preferred to have had it in there but I wouldn’t argue against it either. It also leaves open the possibility of season two.”
Jean-Marc Vallée directs the series from scripts by David E. Kelley. Starring Reese Witherspoon, Shailene Woodley, Alexander Skarsgard, Laura Dern, Adam Scott, Zoe Kravitz, James Tupper and Jeffrey Nordling.
Reese Witherspoon, Bruna Papandrea, Nicole Kidman, Per Saari, Kelle, Vallée, Nathan Ross and Gregg Fienberg executive produce. Barbara Hall and Moriarty produce.
