Golden Globe winner and two-time Academy Award-nominated actress Janet McTeer has joined Marvel Television and Netflix’s JESSICA JONES season 2 in a mystery role, who will have an enormous impact on Jessica’s life.

Jeph Loeb, Marvel’s Head of Television and Executive Producer said:

“We are so fortunate to have an actress of Janet’s talent and stature join what is already an incredible cast. Our second season of Marvel’s JESSICA JONES aims to capture what audiences loved about our first, and Janet will be key to achieving that goal.”

Melissa Rosenberg, Series Creator and Executive Producer said:

“We couldn’t possibly be more excited to work with Ms. McTeer for our second season. Her gravitas and authenticity are the perfect ingredients for all we’re trying to create this year. She disappears into roles, given her characters extraordinary dimension and depth. We’re incredibly fortunate to be able to collaborate with her.”

JESSICA JONES is a suspenseful, edgy look into the life of Jessica Jones, one of the most popular new Marvel characters of the last decade, as she faces demons from within and without. After a tragic ending to her short-lived Super Hero stint, Jessica Jones is rebuilding her personal life and career as a private investigator who gets pulled into cases in New York City.

Starring Krysten Ritter as the title character, who was joined in season 1 by Mike Colter as Luke Cage, Rachael Taylor as Trish Walker, Carrie-Anne Moss, Eka Darville, Erin Moriarty, and Wil Travel. Ritter can be seen next reprising her role in the upcoming Marvel’s THE DEFENDERS on August 18 on Netflix.
