Ciarán Hinds Teases Steppenwolf in ‘JUSTICE LEAGUE’
The villain Steppenwolf made his debut in a deleted scene from Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice that was released online just days after the film had been in theaters and now it’s been announced that Game of Thrones Ciáran Hinds will play the role in the upcoming JUSTICE LEAGUE.
Hinds recently spoke with Independent UK and briefly teased his character.
“He’s old, tired, still trying to get out of his own enslavement to Darkseid, [but] he has to keep on this line to try and take over worlds.”
This sounds interesting and a departure from the character’s roots in comics as he worked as a leader in Darkseid’s army of Apokolips, serving as his right hand man. Making Steppenwolf a former member of Darkseid’s many slaves certainly changes up the character’s dynamic. Hinds also confirmed that the character will be motion captured for the final film.
Hinds played Mance Rayder on HBO’s Game of Thrones and has been seen in other hit films like Munich and Road to Perdition. He also played Aberforth Dumbledore (brother to Albus) in the final Harry Potter film.
