Universal Pictures Set Release Date For ‘THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE’
Universal Pictures has set a October 27, 2017 release date for the upcoming DreamWorks military film, THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE. The film follows a group of U.S. soldiers returning from Iraq who struggle to integrate back into family and civilian life, while living with the memory of a war that threatens to destroy them long after they’ve left the battlefield.
Starring Miles Teller, Haley Bennett, Amy Schumer, Joe Cole, Beulah Koale, Scott Haze, Keisha Castle-Hughes, Brad Beyer, Omar Dorsey, and Jayson Warner Smith. Jon Kilik produces, with Ann Ruark executive producing. The film marks the directorial debut of American Sniper writer Jason Hall, based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning book by David Finkel.
The film deals with postraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), which many soldiers deal with after returning from a tour of duty. PTSD has often been portrayed in the media, and can result from experiencing a traumatic event. The disorder affects approximately 10% of women and 4% of men. Symptoms can include flashbacks, nightmares, avoidance, negative changes in mood or behavior, hyper-vigilance, sleep changes and irritability. It can sometimes lead to a substance abuse, violence and suicide.
