Michael Shannon in Talks To Play Cable on ‘DEADPOOL 2’
Michael Shannon is in talks to play Cable for the highly anticipated sequel, DEADPOOL 2. Apparently, Shannon is currently the top choice, but he’s not the only one on the list. Stranger Things David Harbor and many others, including the previously rumored Kyle Chandler, but that rumor is not longer going.
Shannon isn’t a stranger to the comic book world as he’s previously done three DC Comics movies: Man of Steel, a small part in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Jonah Hex.
Meanwhile, screenwriter Rhett Reese gave a tease about what the relationship between Cable and Merc with the Mouth would be in the upcoming sequel.
“Ryan plays Deadpool with a hint of femininity, and I think that can be funny opposite a Cable who’s uber-masculine. That’ll come into casting and performance and the character design and his wardrobe and things like that too. I think we’ll definitely play into that.”
In addition, Reese also spoke that Deadpool 3 and X-Force will be two different films.
Deadpool 2 is set to introduce two key characters from the X-Force world, including Zazie Beetz as Dominico, a luck-manipulating mutant and Cable, the time-traveling son of X-Men’s Cyclops.
David Leitch will direct from a script by returning duos Reese and Paul Wernick. Ryan Reynolds will once again produce alongside Simon Kinberg and Lauren Shuler Donner.
