Matt Damon Eyes For George Clooney’s ‘The Monuments Men’

Matt Damon’s name is the latest name said to be in talks to join the all-star cast of George Clooney’s next directorial for the upcoming film titled The Monuments Men. 

According to DeadlineDamon would join the cast that includes Daniel Craig, Bill Murray, Cate Blanchett, Jean Dujardin, John Goodman, Hugh Bonneville, Bob Balaban and Clooney himself.

The film adapted by Clooney and his long-time partner Grant Heslov from Robert M. Edsel’s book “The Monuments Men: Allied Heroes, Nazi Thieves, and the Greatest Treasure Hunt in History”, the drama takes place during the final days of Nazi Germany as Adolf Hitler and the Nazis try to cover their tracks by destroying all the artwork they had stolen during their rise to power, as a group of art historians and museum curators try to rescue those works of art.

The film will start shooting on March 1 in Europe and will be co-produced by Heslov from Smokehouse with much of the same crew from Ben Affleck’s Argo, which they produced, including composer Alexandre Desplat.

Sony will be releasing the movie domestically after making the movie in a co-production deal with 20th Century Fox.
