Andrew Garfield Says ‘I Almost Suffocated On The Amazing Spider-Man Set’
Andrew Garfield has revealed that he almost suffocated while filming the anticipated and upcoming film titled The Amazing Spider-Man. Garfield stars in the film as Peter Parker opposite actors Emma Stone, Martin Sheen, Sally Field and Rhys Ifans.
In an interview with New York Daily News he said that he had a harrowing experience on set after failing to realize that his Spider-Man suit was not equipped for water. He said:
“I had to get wet, and I just kind of dove in and didn’t realize that water on the mask made it impossible to breathe. So I was kind of, like, suffocating. I couldn’t get any oxygen! I water-boarded myself.
He praise his fight coordinator Andy Armstrong’s quick thinking for diving in and removing the restrictive mask from his face.
The Amazing Spider-Man is a reboot of the Sam Raimi films which starred Tobey Maguire as the iconic Peter Parker role.
The film is scheduled to hit theaters on July 3.
